Location:  Erie, PA on site

Salary: 70k-80k

 

The Manufacturing Engineer/Programmer position: Programs, documents, orders tooling, and is involved in all aspects of the manufacturing process. This position will be for a highly skilled programmer who is experienced with Mills, Lathes, and preferably Swiss style machines. The focus will be on programming skills and less about the fixturing at this time.

Responsibilities:

Program

  • Create programs and fully document (Set Up sheets, etc) for each job.
  • Assist & troubleshoot machining issues that occur in manufacturing.
  • Manage and order tooling as needed.
  • Assist set up first runs of new parts and help train machinists.
  • Revise existing programs to improve cycle, tool life and quality.
  • Program & document laser marker jobs.

Fixtures

  • Design and construct drill jigs & fixtures for manufacturing with engineering support as needed.
  • Work with Design Engineers & Machinists to efficiently improve current machining fixtures.
  • Make sure fixtures are in good repair and ensure they are producing quality parts.

Design and project management

  • Work with Engineers to determine critical features of new parts before designing, testing, and refining machine fixtures.
  • Consult with Assembly & Engineers to design safe, ergonomic, and time saving assembly fixtures and devices.  Work to improve and update current assembly methods.
  • Work with Engineers to establish efficient machining sequences.
  • Suggest design changes to improve manufacturing times, help reduce costs, & improve quality.
  • Value analyzes assemblies to simplify & help reduce costs.
  • Make suggestions for more effective machines, fixtures, tooling, layout, and participate on improvement teams.
  • Assist with managing new equipment projects including machine selection, plant layouts, tooling selection.

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • A post high school degree in CNC Machining or completion of an Apprenticeship Program is a plus.
  • In addition, the ideal performer will be a motivated self-starter with good interpersonal and technical skills, and the ability to communicate effectively on verbal and written levels.

Minimum Previous Experience:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience working as a CNC *Set Up* Machinist.
  • Possess a high mechanical aptitude.
  • Continues learning to improve skills, to keep current with new equipment and methods and to be able to train other associates.
